This post is an excellent opportunity to gain customer service experience and learn about the systems and processes that underpin the running of a library service, and work towards a Level 2 Customer Service qualification.

Main duties

Main duties

The Library Customer Adviser Apprentice will support excellent customer care by helping and encouraging customers to use library services, answering customer queries, keeping shelves adequately stocked, processing books, obtaining requested items, cash handling and floor walking.

Work as a member of the library team to provide a service to customers in line with Worcestershire County Council's customer service values.

Proactively engage and interact with customers, being visible and accessible to customers.

Focus on the customer in a friendly, positive and confident manner using initiative.

Assist and support customers to make best use of our full range of resources and services, including ICT.

Maintain a friendly, safe and inclusive environment.

Work flexibly as part of a team and support other team members to produce team results.

Encourage and respond positively to customer feedback.

Participate in activities and events held in the library.

Actively seek out opportunities to make a positive contribution to customer service.

Good interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written and good organisational skills

Good level of computer literacy

Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently

Essential Level 2 qualification (e.g. GCSE grade A*-C in Maths and English) or equivalent or the ability to have achieved Level 2 in maths and English by the end of the apprenticeship
