Regional Engagement Co-ordinators (2 posts) - Open to current University employees only

Two new fixed term posts have been created to join the UK Partnerships team to support delivery of the UW Partnership Strategy.

Areas of work will include the promotion of progression, the raising of aspirations, and the development of opportunities with UK partners. A specific project relates to the delivery of the National Collaborative Outreach Programme in Herefordshire, South Shropshire and Worcestershire.

Reporting to the Regional Engagement Manager, you will be working with a range of external partners and liaising with Institute staff, the Head of Collaborative Programmes, the Deputy Head of the Academic Quality Unit, the Director of Access and Inclusion and the Graduate Ambassadors.

The ability to quickly develop and sustain effective working relationships with staff at all levels will be key to your success in this role. You will enjoy the challenge of working with different organisations and across the University. You will need strong project management skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You must be able to travel independently.

Background

These two new posts will join the UW Partnership Team, led by the DPVC Educational Partnerships, to support the delivery of the UW Partnership Strategy and the National Collaborative Outreach programme (NCOP) http://www.hefce.ac.uk/sas/ncop/, which targets young people in specific wards and attempts to increase their rate of participation in higher education. The Partnership Team will be working with five local colleges as well as the Graduate Ambassadors and the Director of Access and Inclusion to deliver this project in Herefordshire, Worcestershire and South Shropshire.

Due to the size and nature of the team, the work will be varied and require a willingness to undertake all tasks. There will be a need for a strong ability to work independently, to tight timescales and with attention to detail.

Main duties

Main duties

1. To work with the Regional Engagement Manager to deliver the FE strand of the NCOP; working with Colleges, Schools and the Graduate Ambassador Team to:

a. target relevant individuals.

b. ensure that appropriate activity takes place.

c. monitor, evaluate and report on activity.

d. ensure effective engagement of colleges and schools.

e. arrange and take notes of meetings as required, and follow up actions.

2. To play a key role in the relationship management of existing and developing partnerships; carrying out informal as well as formal engagement with partners to ensure the relationship works well and to the mutual benefit of both partners.

3. To visit a range of staff within partner colleges on a regular basis, as well as acting as first port of call for issue resolution or responding to queries as required.

4. To ensure partners engaged in delivery of the NCOP adhere to the requirements and regulations as stipulated by HEFCE. This will include providing guidance and support for the following.

a. Branding and PR

b. Evaluation and monitoring

i. including data capture

ii. learner tracking information

iii. financial parameters.

5. To act as a contact point for any requisitions relating to financial profiling, invoicing and data capture.

6. To be responsible for ensuring that reporting and monitoring information is received and collated in a timely manner; with sufficient detail to satisfy the conditions of the NCOP grant.

7. To develop support for progression, including specific agreements for partner colleges in relation to progression to HE. This will include liaison with Graduate Ambassadors, Student Ambassadors and other UW staff to facilitate the arrangement of visits, talks and attainment activity at any of the NCOP providers.

8. To provide support for other activities carried out by the Partnership and NCOP teams, including arranging meetings and following up actions in addition to supplying relevant data and information to support activities.

9. To facilitate professional staff development and links with UW staff as required.

10. To deputise for the Regional Engagement Manager as required.

11. To carry out any additional duties commensurate with the post.

Essential Criteria

1. Educated to degree level or equivalent.

2. Excellent inter-personal skills including tact and diplomacy.

3. Proven experience of developing and sustaining productive working relationships with internal teams and external partners.

4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

5. Excellent organisation, project management and time management skills, with a high attention to detail and ability to track complex activities.

6. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

7. Good ICT skills including MS Office, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook.

8. Ability to travel independently.

Desirable Criteria

1. Experience of increasing access and widening participation in higher education.
