Whether you’re a trainee or a newly qualified teacher looking for some fresh ideas to inspire your pupils, a new social media resource might be just what you need.
The NQT Pinterest page has been put together by a teaching lecturer and former student from the University of Worcester and is filled with stimulating ideas from fellow NQTs.
It acts as a forum for new teachers to share teaching methods and activities in order to help them deliver exciting lessons to their pupils.
Jennifer Swain, who studied Primary Initial Teacher Education and now works at Rosslyn School in Birmingham, said: “It is quite challenging coming up with new ideas and lesson plans when your experience is short. Therefore a resource like NQT Pinterest can spark exciting ideas and outstanding lessons can transpire from there.”
The page acts like an online pinboard, which has sub-sections such as ‘all things literacy’ and ‘all things behaviour management’, where different ideas can be pinned. NQTs can then access the resource by following the page from their own Pinterest account and viewing whichever board meets their current needs. They can also email ideas to be uploaded onto the board and this contributes to the resource bank.
