Language support services

If you want to improve your academic English skills and you're a first or second-year student, you may be able to enrol for our Academic English modules. If you're interested in learning French, German, Spanish, Italian or Japanese, check out our modern foreign language modules

If you are not able to take any of our for-credit modules, our Language Adviser can help you select printed and online materials for studying independently. To make an appointment, just email her.

Help improving your academic English

If you want advice on how to improve your use of academic English in your essay or presentation, the Language Centre offers daily 20-minute sessions that are open to all registered students, whether English is your first language or not.

You can book up to two sessions per week, after which tutors will cancel additional bookings. You can then drop in if you see a slot is free on the booking system. The tutor will see students waiting for free slots on a first-come-first-served basis.

Time: 14:00-16:00 every weekday during the University teaching semester
